TOPIC: Overwrite Patches with Automation?

Overwrite Patches with Automation? 4 years 1 month ago #166

Just got the editor setup and running with my NL2 – and love the ease of creating new patches and automating parameters in Logic.

Just wanted to confirm one thing: patches in the Patch Manager are overwritten directly as soon as you move a knob in the editor (since there is no 'save' button)? So even Logic automation will change the patch that's stored in the Patch Manager, it seems?

I found out after programming some automation on a track then flipping through some patches I'd created to see how they sounded . . . only to find that when I selected those patches later they had changed.

Thanks!

Yes, that is the way that it works... Any changes you make are kept in the patch as they are made. If you want to reload the bank or patch as it was, then you need to load it from the original file.

Thanks for the quick response!

It's a little unusual to work that way . . . just need to keep it in mind, I guess.

Well, this is the first complaint i have had about that. If I did it without saving those changes, then people would complain that it doesn't remember their changes, which would be far worse. I do not plan on changing the way it works.
