Is it possible to have multiple instances running on different channels, so i can play and automate the 4 layers from the nord? It seems to work with note information, but automation is always sent to all instances of the Lead 2 editor. So e.g. this is my setup (Ableton Live 9):
An instance running on one track and set to layer A, midi channel 1 and
another instance running on track 2 set to layer B, midi channel 2,
when i turn a knob on any layer on the nord lead, both interfaces show movement (and automation is recorded on both instances). My midi monitor shows the cc of the knobs are actually on different channels, so i guess the Lead 2 editor should be able to recognize it.
When i run two channels with the "External Instrument" from ableton live, it works fine.
Is this a bug or am i missing something?

This is not how you should do it. You can only use one instance because that one instance uses the access to the MIDI port In/Out.

You can access all four parts/channels by using the part select combo box.

Thanks for a quick response!
Ok I get it. So i tried it with on instance. What i would like is to automate cc's on both layers/channels. So i tried this:
Run one instance of Lead 2 editor
Have two midi track's outputs routed to vst lead editor channel 1 and channel 2.
If i have the lead editor set to an unused layer, the automation is sent to the nord fine. The lead editor shows all automation on all channels though in it's interface.
And when i select one of the used layers, it get's both the automation sent to it (which is to be expected, since the interace already showed all automation).
If the lead editor would reflect the automation per layer/midi channel, i can save the presets and automation with the project via the Editor. Is there a way to do this?

You can only automate one part. That is the drawback. I really just added the part access because I knew people would need to access the parts. The Editor is designed simply to manage one part. Automation can only be done on one part at a time, because the parts share the parameter controls. You will have do your work, one part at a time, record that as audio, then move on to the next part.

Ok that's clear. I was expecting someting that wasn't there. I'll just automate one part. Then save the preset for later recall (and maybe bounce) and then go to the next one.
Thanks for the explanation.
